MORTAZA – WINNING THE SERIES WOULD BE GOOD FOR BANGLADESH

Bangladesh are leading Sri Lanka 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.

They won the first match by 90 runs. This was after they had won their first Test game over the same opponents two weeks ago in Colombo. Bangladesh are now hoping to make history on Tuesday when they won their first series ever against Sri Lanka.

MortazaMashrafe opines that the Test victory would be a good thing for Bangladesh even though he tried pushing the pressure off the players. He asked that the team take the game one after the other until they reach the promise land.

“This will have a good impact on Bangladesh cricket if we can win the series here. I don’t want to talk about a 3-0 result, which brings pressure to the players. It is better if they don’t think about it. Let’s do it match by match. We have to be mindful that the opposition will be giving it their best too. We should focus on playing our best cricket,” Mashrafe advised. (more…)

NEW ZEALAND EDGE SOUTH AFRICA IN THIRD TEST

New Zealand have snapped up the control after the third Test in Hamilton. They now have 321 after the third day against their opponent’s 314.

The visitorswere really affected by the awesome partnership of Kane Williamson and JeetRaval. The pair posted a record of 102 runs in the first Test at Dunedin but they posted a better result of 190 runs on the third day to take control of the series.

The Black Caps improved on their Wellington performance, going the route of low risk batting and maximum impact – something they would typically do at home. This make their South African opponents flat in the field.

South Africa were not all that bad as their lines were accurate, and they bounced the ball on the block strips for sake of its advantages. Their skipper Faf du Plessis and the African bowlers tried their best but they could not penetrate the resolute New Zealand side.

Williamson equalled Martin Crowe’s record after he reached his 17th test century. This makes him the sixth Kiwi to reach 5000 Test runs in their history. He is now in contention to move up in the best batsmen list. John Wright is the one directly above him with 5334. Then there is Crowe’s 5444, then Ross Taylor at 6030, Brendon McCullum at 6453 and Stephen Fleming at 7172 runs. (more…)

Steve Smith downplays Virat’s Fooling Comment

Steve Smith has dismissed what Virat Kohli, his counterpart from the Indian side, had stated post the win of his team in Bengaluru.

Virat had hinted that Smith was trying to fool everyone by giving the review incident the name of a mistake, while, the truth was that he didn’t do that by mistake and it was actually well thought out on his part.

Generally, people say that when the broadcaster doesn’t replay any of the deliveries without getting sure that it is not being reviewed, then it doesn’t matter who is looking where because without watching the replay, how can someone help even from outside?

But, that’s a wrong way of looking at it. It’s true that the replays don’t come up until a decision on the review has been reached by the batsman, but, all the deliveries actually get recorded in the computers that the two teams have in the change rooms.

So, what the people in the change room can do is to quickly rewind that delivery twice or thrice and watch it from the front angle and then decide if it’s a good case of an LBW or a catch. (more…)

DHAKA DYNAMITES ARE THE BANGLADESH PL CHAMPIONS

Beating Rajshahj Kings in the final by 56 runs, Dhaka Dynamites have gone on to win the Bangladesh Premier league T20, as inspired by Kumar Sangakarra.

With a posting of a 159 total or nine, the bowlers of the Dhaka Dynamites finished off the job by dismissing the Kings for 103.

Early in the chase, the Kings lost Nurul with Mominul and Sabbir adding 47 runs at a cautious rate, thus putting a slight pressure on this that followed.

A direct hit from Mehedi Maruf caught Sabbir short of his ground for 26, while the next over saw Mominul follow for 27.

At regular intervals, the trio of Samit Patel, James Patel and Darren Sammy were dismissed, thus reducing the Kings to 87 for five.

The rest of the lineup for the Kings were unable to manage a three digit total. For the Dynamites, Sanzamul, Rahi and Shakib claimed two wickets each. (more…)
